Self Confidence and Chevron

Instead of going on about my outfit and how I love it (but really, this skirt tho?!), I want to talk about self-confidence.

I'm sure you're thinking "Self-confidence? From a girl who blogs about her life and posts outfits of herself daily?!". Yes, it's true. Because honestly, self-confidence is something I have struggled with my whole life.  Whether it comes from being shy and nerdy by nature, or an abusive childhood, I have often struggled with my self confidence.

Alot of the reason I started this blog was to push myself in being confident in my own personal choices and being confident enough to follow a dream I wanted (which is to start this blog).  I'm not going to lie, it is hard for me.  I think about what other people post, and what they are thinking. But I am also trying very hard to STOP that nasty habit.

I have recently started going back to church. It is good for my SOUL.  I adore focusing on my faith. I am usually very quiet about it, but the lesson I am working on is one I want to share with the other women in the blogging community.  Our pastor had us choose a word to focus on for this year. One word of something we need to work on . Instantly, "self-confidence" popped into my head.  He said to go home and google our word and where it is in the bible.

At first I thought I may not find any entries at all, but I found a TON of fabulous passages. I have yet to focus on just one, but I wanted to share a few of the ones that really touched my heart, on the chance they may touch yours too.

"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

"There is no fear in ove, perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love."

Thank you for reading this piece of my heart. I will keep you posted in my journey in self-confidence and faith this year.  If you feel intrigued, choose a word that you want to work on and let me know what passages bring you strength. Xoxo

Keep on Keepin...warm!

It is no doubt a VERY chilly day across the country today!!  I had no idea it was even that cold or rainy, as I got to school around 6:45 a.m. and stayed in said classroom (without windows) until 3:30 when I finally ventured out to my car. I found it to be cold AND rainy. This showed me it was the perfect time to go get a peppermint mocha and learn more blog skills. Yay!

Here is my OOTD. I love love love this tunic.  I bought it consignment for less than $10.00.  I dressed it up with a pretty pink necklace and just felt warm, cute, and professional all day today.

This definitely helps, as any other fellow teachers know out there, teaching can be so rewarding, and yet on others so tiring and challenging that you leave that day feeling frustrated at the world and yourself. Yesterday was one of those days for me. My students (and trust me, I see over 200 different students each day) were wiley after the break.  A cute outfit and some Starbucks were just needed for this week.  I have been feeling frustrated and restless with myself and others.

So cheers to you out there, do something kind for yourself today. Remember as I must, that you can't control others. You can only care for them, but you must remember to care for your own heart and soul as well.  I hope all is well for you today, and please take care of yourself as well as the others in your life that you care so much for. Xoxo.

Back to School

It is back to school this week for me. One of the many things I love about being a teacher is avoiding calling it "work" but rather school.  We had a training day before the children came back so I took the advantage to wear these heeled boots I never wear! I paired it with a tunic, leopard belt, and floral scarf. I felt professional and sassy all day!

Here's a closer up of my accessories. As a new blogger, I am definitely still working on my photo editing and posing. I take my own photos so this is definitely an opportunity I need to work on!

Kailey and her wedding was simply beautiful. She was such a gorgeous bride and did a great job planning it. She wasn't a bridezilla PLUS she let us pick our own bridesmaids dresses with just the color she wanted. I love love love my dress and can't wait to wear it again! I had a great time seeing and meeting people, having a cocktail or two, dancing, and of course watching this sweet girl marry the man of her dreams!!

Bell Wedding Day + Emergency Bridal Kit

The day is here!! I am so excited to be in my sweet friends Kailey and Tyler's wedding!! They are such a fun and amazing couple I couldn't be happier to be a part of their wedding.  We had the rehearsal last night and this is what I wore. I wish I had a clearer picture, especially of my new ankle booties that I got to wear! I definitely have chicken legs, and these were the first pair with an ankle opening smaller to fit me really well.

I crowned it off with a statement necklace, because, well who doesn't want some bling??

I'm off to start my day and prepare Kailey's emergency bridal kit. I think this is a great way to help the bride and bridesmaids. Except our bridal kit comes with mimosas! (champagne and orange juice)  Here's to a great day with a beautiful couple and so many sweet friends.

Chambray and Glitz

Good afternoon! Here is our chambray for the day.  When I first heard about this trend, I actually hated it.  I thought it looked like something I would see all of the men of the stockyards of OKC (you know, the denim suit? denim shirt, jeans, and workboots, fine for them not for me!)

But let me tell you, once I found one that fits me, it is my go-to run around town outfit piece.  I love wearing it with my warm wool tights and my heart scarf to stay toasty and cute.  I've also worn it with a lace skirt, or colored skinny jeans. Honestly the possibilities are pretty endless and is an easy way to look nice even on a lazy day.

I adore this scarf, as I adore all things girly. The temperatures are dropping here so I am trying my darndest to stay warm!

I also wanted to show off my first mani-pedi I've gotten at an actual salon in a loooong time. I always opt to do them myself because it's cheaper and I get to do it on my own couch at home. However, I went with my sweet bride-to-be on New Years Day and got my toes and fingers ready for her wedding TOMORROW!!  It is a barefoot wedding, so a pedicure was a must. I've been really into gold and LOTS of sparkles this season so I thought this was the best way to throw that in there with my bridesmaids dress!! :)

Happy New Years from OKCGlam!

(all dressed up on New Years with this handsome gent :) I can't think of anything sweeter!)

Happy 2014, everyone! I am so excited and ready for this new year.  2013 has been a great learning and growing experience, but I am ready for the new year upon us!

(Hey it's me and my sissy!)

Ringing in the New Year was hands down one of my favorite NYE's ever. It began with a coffee break using my new Keurig (which I'm obsessed with) with my sweet friend Courtney.  It was followed my ice skating, and then some drinky-poos with alot of my favorite people.

I don't have any perfect pictures of my outfits, but I much prefer these with my sweets anyway! I wore a form fitting sparkly dress with black tights, wedges, and a white blazer. Oh yes and us girls also rocked these show girl inspired headbands because, well, why not?!

I have alot of goals this year.  First is to definitely blog MORE. I've enjoyed it so much but I really want to kick it off to share my interests with everyone more and also just to have a creative outlet for all the things I love.

Second, I want to really practice enjoying being me, and keeping a good attitude.  After a few years of feeling like I was on a winding trail and forgetting who I am, I can tell that I feel undoubtedly myself again.  I am really happy for that.

Third, I want to continue my work in showing compassion every day. Whether its just holding a door for an old lady, or hugging my pet kitty cat, or high fiving one of my students, compassion is undoubtedly important. I have been so very blessed by compassionate people I want to continue that chain!!

What did you do and wear for New Years?? Did you make any resolutions?

Happy 2014, everyone!
